9 Months has Gone By

It’s been 9 months already? Wow, time flies when you are a lazy dog and the summer is too hot to go outside. I have been sleeping for at least 6 of the 9 months and starting to lose some weight.

The weight loss is due to both the DM and Mom! She says I’m fat, I say I’m pleasingly plump.
My front leg is hurting more each day, but it has been carrying most of my weight for 9 long years now and probably getting like an old Buick. Arthritis in the joints, glucosamine supplements for that. Adequan shots for the DM, it’s too bad they can’t make my regular dog food out of the stuff! Oh, and I’m on a Senior food now too. UGH! This getting old stuff is for the birds.

Playing with a kitty toy ( I think I’m a cat)

Speaking of birds, I sit (lay) on the porch in the mornings while mom has her coffee and we watch the doves, sparrows and whatever else happens to fly in, eat their breakfast in our backyard. Loving the cool weather now.
My back legs shake bad now. I can only stand up for a few minutes, unless I’m hopping around, then I’m o.k. (unless my front leg gives out). It only happens if I’m standing still. Mom says I’m twerking. She’s silly, but that’s o.k.

Loving the cool weather!
Hard to eat a bully stick with one paw, but I can do anything!

I’m still happy and not in a lot of pain, just that old Uncle Arthur stuff. Rimadyl helps, some days, Tramadol others and nothing on others.
I will be back again. Dad & Mom know that my time with them may be coming to a close. We shall see about that. I have proven them wrong before, maybe I can do it again!
Keep hopping my furriends!

Chuy is a 1 yr. old Chow/Newfie/Husky/Beagle mix. He has already lost his left frt. leg due to being hit by a car at 4 mos. old. We adopted him when he was 8 mos. old. He has now had FHO surgery on his left rear leg.

  1. Chuyyyyyyy! We have missed you! I’m happy that your weather is cool once again. Living in Arizona during summer has gotta be ruff. Thank dog for winter eh?

You’ve got the badass attitude that can definitely prove everypawdy wrong, I just know it! Kick that Uncle Arthur out of the house and keep on hoppin my friend. One day at a time, you’ll get there 🙂

Glad to hear you’re svelte, that should definitely help with your mobility. Keep it up my friend. We think of you often and send out lots of 3paw salutes to you and your people.

  2. Love hearing from you Chuy!! And yeah, love your “badass atiitude”! Getting o@der….er…..ore mature….is not for sissys, that’s for sure! Trust me, I know!!

We hoomans can use things like walkers and canes, etc. It’s a bit harder for mature pups to use those things! Yeah, that ole’ “Arthur” can give us some shaky days on our paws, and it can leave us alone on others. You certainly seem to be enjoying your spunky fiesty self in spite of it all! And while those “less good days” may be a bit “uncomfortable”, it’s not a “pain” that hurts to the poi t that your quality is severely compromised. Extra treats always help!! Senior dog food doesn’t help nearly as much as treat! Sometimes a cheesevurger ripped with a scoop of ice cream does wonders!!

WE HEREBY DECLARE EVERY DAY CHUY DAY!!! 🙂 🙂 And we loooove looking at all your pictures and hearing avout your bird watching duties!

We’re all cheering for you handsome boy!

    Lots of love and hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

  3. Every day Chuy day? Does this mean I get extra dried chicken treats too?
My sisfurs will get jealous! 😉

  4. Thanks Jerry! I’ve missed you too and Jim & Renee and of course Wyatt Ray Dawg too. Mom’s still keeping busy with her sewing cat toys. I’ll have to write about that one of these days.
